Do you think about where your water comes from?

Most of the time we take it for granted that water will be there when we turn on the faucet, but do you think about where your water comes from?

The extreme drought and record breaking temperatures in Texas and across the Southwest have highlighted crucial issues with the water supply system. As the population grows and forecasts indicate more dry conditions, ensuring secure water sources is becoming even more critical.

PBS NewsHour has been reporting from Texas on depleting water sources and how the state struggles to plan for a drier future. Read the story: Two Texas Towns Run Out of Water.

In order to understand just how big a problem this is, we at NewsHour want to know more about the limitations of water supplies across the nation.
