Why Rent?

Coloradans are renting houses on an unprecedented scale. The vacancy rate for single family rental homes in the Metro Denver area, for example, is less than 2 percent -- an all time low.

Economists believe this could be a lasting effect of the mortgage crisis and recession, predicting that people will continue to rent because loan standards are now stricter, many families have been foreclosed on and because of an overall sluggish economy.
