Are you New to Houston?

I'm from Texas, not from Houston. What stuck out for me when I moved here were the endless parking lots, the potholes and the delicious food. It took me months to feel like Houston's home.

Now I've got my favorite place to grab Iraqi bread, and I know which lanes to avoid on Richmond Avenue -- pretty much all of them.

I'm not alone.

Tens of thousands of people have moved to Houston in the past couple of years. The city continues to make national headlines on its job growth and increasing population

Here at KUHF News, we want to hear from people who moved to Houston during the Great Recession.

Were you a reluctant Houstonian or perhaps you chose to come to the 'city of opportunity?' What are your thoughts of the Bayou City? Have you come to call Houston home?

We're planning to do stories on newcomers to Houston. The stories may be roped into our new public affairs show, Houston Matters

I look forward to reading your story,
