Should prayer have a role in government?

In an 8-3 vote, the Miami-Dade Commission voted to reinstate a spoken prayer before their official meetings start. The Commission previously had a moment of silence to allow private prayer.

A sponsor of the bill to bring back spoken prayer at the hearings, Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz, called it a matter of "freedom of speech," whereas Commissioner Sally called it, "unfair to members of the community to be subjected to a religious point of view."
