Are North and South Florida divided on Stand Your Ground?

Tuesday marks the first anniversary since Miami-Dade student Trayvon Martin, 17, was fatally shot by volunteer crime watchman George Zimmerman, 28, who said it was self-defense under the Stand Your Ground law. The case struck a chord with the nation on gun control and similar self-defense laws. Several months ago another black teen, Jordan Davis, was shot in Jacksonville by Michael Dunn, 45, who is also claiming a defense under Stand Your Ground.

Gov. Rick Scott set up a task force to review Florida's Stand Your Ground law, but the board suggested no further revisions were needed to the controversial law. And it's a hard sell for Florida leaders this legislative session. State Senator Chris Smith, a proponent for changing the law, says that the opposition to any change illustrates the "different Floridas."
