Many parents struggle to understand their kids. But what is it like to raise children who are fundamentally different?

Next week our radio talk show Think Out Loud will be talking to author Andrew Solomon, who talks about what it's like for parents to raise children with unique identities. Solomon's book, Far From The Tree looks at families with children who are different from their parents in some way--kids who are deaf but have hearing parents, for example,or heterosexual parents with a transgender child. He also discusses families with children who are prodigies, who have schizophrenia, or who have committed a serious crime.
