About $85 billion in federal budget cuts took effect March 1, which the administration has warned will cause delays in air traffic, prompt teacher layoffs, hamper food inspections and furlough members of the military and other federal employees. Others accused Obama of overstating the impact. We are trying to determine just how much the cuts are affecting residents.
