Why are African Americans moving to the South?

The Charlotte Observer is working on a story about the migration of African Americans into southern cities such as Charlotte. The 2010 census data revealed, for example, that the African American population has decreased in New York City and has increased in major cities in the South. The Observer is working with WNYC Radio to cover this trend and why it's happening.
