Democrats pick Charlotte for 2012 convention

What should Charlotte do to host a successful convention?

Mayor Anthony Foxx and Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers announced the Democratic party will hold its 2012 convention in Charlotte, a first for the city.

Rogers said the announcement is the result of many decades of the Charlotte area reinventing itself, evolving from a region of cotton mills to a banking center and now an emerging energy hub. Officials expect thousands of journalists from all over the world to converge on the city.
