Tell us how water restrictions might impact you
Cheney Reservoir, which supplies much of Wichita's water, will run out of water by August 2015 if the drought continues. The city is considering several options to reduce water use. Option 1 - Ask residents to voluntarily reduce water use. Option 2 - Raise residential water rates high enough to reduce outdoor water use by 50 percent. Someone paying $151 a month in the summer for water would see the water bill increase to $322. The city says it would protect commercial businesses. Option 3 (Least likely) - Raise water rates high enough to eliminate all outdoor water use. Someone paying $151 a month in the summer for water would see the bill increase to $471. The city says that would affect car washes, Botanica, golf courses and all swimming pools. The City Council will make a decision soon. We'd like to know how these options might impact you.
