Have you ever been scammed?
These days, scammers operate under many different guises. Identity thieves fill out bogus tax returns and collect the refunds mean for unknowning victims. Storm chasers pop up after tornadoes, selling emergency home repairs. They collect partial or even full payment in advance, but never return to do the work. Or if they do, the repairs turn out to be shoddy, at best.
Then there are the robocaller scams that offer "free" alarm systems — with hefty monthly monitoring fees — and credit card interest rate scams.
St. Louis Public Radio reporter Mary Delach Leonard wants to talk with people who have been the victim of a rip-off. Have you ever been hit? Did you ever get satisfaction? Please respond to the questions below to share your story.
