What is life like in an intergenerational household?
There are nearly 23,000 grandparents in Oregon who are the primary caregiver for a grandchild. In nearly half those cases, the child's parents don't live in the same residence.
We're working with the Library to explore issues that emerge from this year's Everybody Reads book, The Girl Who Fell from the Sky by Heidi Durrow. The main character grows up with her grandmother in Portland after a tragic family incident.
Do you have personal experience that could help our newsroom continue the conversation? Did you live with grandparents while growing up? Perhaps you're you a grandparent currently raising your children's kids, or a parent whose children are being raised by family members.
Whether or not you've read The Girl Who Fell From The Sky, you can help us understand what it's like to be part of an intergenerational home.
