MPR & Hometown Focus host an online forum on VRMC's future

How do we address the challenges facing rural health providers such as Virginia Regional Medical Center? This is the topic of an online discussion that MPR News and Hometown Focus plans to host January 28 at noon.

The idea is to define problems facing rural hospitals like VRMC and suggest some solutions. Some topics will pursue include: The effects of an aging population while Medicare reimbursement shrinks; How the hospital deals with a national shortage of physicians, and other licensed professionals; The difficulty in recruiting health personnel to remote locations. The lack of financing to keep up, and improve, hospital facilities.
