How affordable is your health insurance?
For more than a decade the health care industry steadily added jobs to Florida's economy. The string of monthly job gains ended late last year. In March, the number of people working in local hospitals dropped yet health care remains a significant industry boasting more jobs in the local economy than the tourism industry. However, with state and federal health care spending under pressure, a job in health care may not be as secure as it once was.
Floridians continue to struggle to obtain affordable health insurance. State House representatives recently rejected a bill that would have used federal funds to expand health coverage to more than 1 million in the state. WLRN-Miami Herald News is diving into the state of South Florida's health care industry, from its workers to its patients, and we want your perspective.
